1) Bamburgh Castle/Beach
Around 15/20 mins from the park, Bamburgh Castle and beach is definitely worth a visit.
2) Paxton House
Only 10 mins from the park, Paxton house is a great place to visit. Woodland trails, play park, house, tearooms and shop are all open 10am - 5pm daily.
3) Heatherslaw Light Railway
Around 15 mins from the park, this little train runs every hour through the countryside to Etal where you can have a bite to eat at the gorgeous tea rooms, explore the castle, take a dip in the river or wander along the river side before heading back to Heatherslaw to see the model railway museum.
4) East Links Family Park
A little further away from the park, around 40 mins north is this fantastic farm park. There are so many things to see and do here, it’s definitely worth a visit. Pony rides, multi-level fortress, trampolines, go-karts, pedal tractors, sledging, musical maze, crazy golf and over 17 different breeds of animals to feed.
5) Alnwick Gardens
About 25 mins south of the park, these stunning gardens designed by the Duchess of Northumberland is a fantastic day out.
There is a poison garden, cherry orchard, tree house, grand cascade, cafe and much more...
6) Berwick Speedway/Berwick Rangers
5 mins north of park is Sheilfield park, home of the Berwick Bandits speedway team and Berwick Rangers football ground.
Berwick Speedway is a thrilling experience watching teams race around a track at 60mph with no brakes!! Usually on Saturday nights at 7pm.
7) Berwick upon Tweed
Again, 5 mins north of the park is the Historic walled town of Berwick upon Tweed.
There is lots of things to do in Berwick, starting with a walk around the town walls then along the pier to the lighthouse, a meal in Limoncello or an ice cream at Mr C’s, a wander around the shops or a play at the park and amusements at Spittal, you won’t be lost for things to do in Berwick.
8 ) Berwick Boat Trips
Also located in Berwick, these trips either head up river or out into the North Sea where you might catch a glimpse of some Dolphins!
9) Alnwick Castle
If you’re a Harry Potter fan, then this is the place for you! Around 25 mins south, Alnwick Castle starred as the Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 2 of the films. Other attractions include, Jesting, Birds of prey display, live cannon firing and wand making.
10) Holy Island / Lindisfarne
Last but by no means least! You cannot visit Haggerston without a visit to Holy Island which is just 10 mins away from the park.
The lindisfarne priory, castle, nature reserve, church, winery and heritage centre are all worth a visit plus there are some excellent restaurants and cafes that are mostly dog friendly too.
Holy Island is cut off twice per day by the tide so you must check times before heading over!!
